Coca-Cola is bringing back Surge, and all is now right with the world
I read the news on Facebook that Coca-Cola is bringing back Surge. I basically lost my crap in Starbucks. Surge hasn’t been sold since 2003. Surge was EVERYTHING back in the late 90s.
This whole 90s nostalgia thing that Millennials are on has pretty much hit pay dirt. Thanks, in part, to a Facebook page called ‘SURGE Movement,’ Coca-Cola hast started selling Surge again exclusively on Amazon (as of this writing it’s out of stock…and I’m SALTY!).
For those of you not in the know, Surge is pretty much Coca-Cola’s version of Mountain Dew…except way more flipping cool. Surge was so popular because of it’s slick marketing that made it seem like you pretty much weren’t cool unless you were drinking it. It was put forth as an energy drink, and of course parents started flipping out because of all of the allegedly bad stuff in it (yet no one was throwing shade at Mountain Dew…) when in reality it wasn’t any worse (or better) than most soft drinks.
Surge was too legit to quit. I’m pretty stoked that they’re bringing it back. So stoked that I knew I had to blog about it as soon as I got the news.
I leave you with one of the vintage Surge commercials. Feel the nostalgia.
